What Can I Expect From Coaching?

EBS_4450-Enhanced-NR-Edit-2.jpg

The goal of ADHD coaching is to help you gain clarity about your ADHD and to develop skills that can help you make the changes you desire for yourself.  After an initial consultation, we will begin to discuss the reasons you're seeking coaching, identify your strengths, and begin to identify the goals that you want to move toward.  While every client's coaching journey is unique depending on their age, life circumstances and identified needs, some common areas frequently covered in coaching are:

EXECUTIVE FUNCTION
Executive function refers to your brain's ability to manage a variety of stimuli in order to focus, meet goals, and maintain emotional balance.  Many students with ADHD find that school is a place where this becomes a significant challenge.  Adults with ADHD may find that certain areas of work and family life are affected.

ACCEPTANCE & UNDERSTANDING
"Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder," has long carried a stigma thanks to its use of the word,"deficit."  A goal of coaching is to help you get free of stigmas & misconceptions about ADHD so that you can live with more confidence and self-acceptance.

LEVERAGING STRENGTHS

As ADHD research grows, we are understanding that ADHD involves both challenges and strengthsUsing evidence-based models, you will discover your unique strengths and explore how to make them work to your advantage.

RELATIONSHIP DYNAMICS

ADHD can impact relationships at school, at home, and at work.  Misunderstanding and lack of awareness can create cycles of frustration that over time wear away at self-esteem, and lead to feeling isolated and demoralized.  When ADHD is better understood, empathy and deeper connection in your relationships have room to grow.

ADHD has not been holding you back: your lack of understanding about your own ADHD has been holding you back.  Once you gain the knowledge and experience to understand the different ways your ADHD manifests in your world, you will then know what it takes to move in the direction of your dreams.
